Beacon Hill Bell Ringers first perform.

December 24, 1924

Subsequently an annual tradition, it is first held in Louisburg Square. The event is founded by Mrs. Arthur Shurcliff, the former Margaret Nichols, of 66 Mount Vernon Street, whose grandfather had become interested in bell ringing and left her his bells at his death. The event is held every year except for one year during World War II when a blackout was being imposed.
